Automating data transfer between Losky and T-Mobile – how we eliminated manual transcription and streamlined processes
Our major client, the design and construction company LOSKY, is a key supplier to T-Mobile in the acquisition and physical construction of the fibre optic network. This process is very complex and involves extensive administration, especially the need to obtain consents from landowners. In order to manage these consents effectively, LOSKY has so far used Excel-based monitoring to record which projects have consents in order and can proceed to the implementation phase.
T-Mobile has its own internal system into which this data was manually transcribed. This process was time consuming and meant a constant administrative burden for both parties. However, the situation changed when T-Mobile decided that it would no longer manually take Excel reports from suppliers and instead required LOSKY to enter its data directly into their information system. The fact that not every employee in LOSKY had access to this system for security reasons also became a challenge. Thus, for example, field workers were not able to directly influence the data.
Therefore, LOSKY needed to maintain its proven system of working with Excel, but at the same time automate the transfer of data into the T-Mobile information system. Manually transcribing the data would have meant a huge time burden and would have required at least two full-time staff to be dedicated to this activity.
Based on this need, we developed a program for LOSKA employees that runs locally on their PCs. This program automatically retrieves data from Excel, analyzes it, and translates it into the T-Mobile system in real time. The program has been designed to understand exactly what data is being recorded in Excel and to interpret it correctly in the context of the requirements of the T-Mobile information system.
The result is an efficient and reliable solution that allows both companies to maintain their existing workflow while the data transfer is completely automated. This automation has eliminated manual transcription, reduced the risk of errors, and saved dozens of hours of human labor per month. LOSKY can now concentrate on its core business, the efficient construction of the fibre optic network, instead of wasting time on administrative tasks.
